Cool
Frost, mildew, hail: a year for the selective
Twelve days of frost, then mildew and hail took most of the crop. What survived is cool, lean and very high in acidity, with Chardonnay the winner.
The harvest
Frost on 12 days between 6 April and 3 May cost about 30 per cent. Mildew took another 25–30 per cent. Hail on about 500 ha. Average yield about 7,000 kg/ha. Potential alcohol 9.9 per cent.
