Mailly Grand Cru was founded in 1929, when around two dozen growers responded to the Depression by refusing to sell their fruit to the houses and building a cellar of their own.

Founded in the crash of 1929 by growers who decided to keep their own grapes — a single grand cru village, north-facing and entirely Pinot Noir country.

Lovely floral and fruity tones make the first impression on the nose, which also gives wet river stone, chalk and a metallic tone alongside them.
Truly a rich Champagne, giving tones of red apple skin and blood orange peel, with lemon blossom and baked lemon alongside them, and a clear autolytic character running through.
Rich fruit throughout, with clear notes of red apple and citrus over chalk, and a light herbal edge running alongside.
A rich nose, and a genuinely lovely one: orange blossom, citrus zest, chalk and salt, with a herbal edge to it.
A lovely, fruit-forward nose giving plenty of red apple skin and blood orange, with citrus, minerality and a saline note running alongside.
Fantastic. A Champagne with obvious cellaring potential ahead of it.
A pretty, pale salmon-pink colour. Razor-sharp acidity and an extremely focused expression, carrying deliciously juicy fruit.
It reads like a Blanc de Blancs, only with a little more body behind it.
Fine concentration, with citrus, weight and a note of black tea.
Deep in colour. Red berry fruit on the nose, with fine concentration and plenty of raspberry running through it.
The autolytic character is the first thing to meet you, and it stays through the whole wine.
A clear nose where the Pinot Noir announces itself plainly, with attractive red apple fruit and defined notes of grapefruit and lilac.
Rich and creamy on the palate, with a lactic edge to the texture that gives the wine real breadth.
